For a century and a half, Tougaloo College has transformed lives in our state, nation and world. The year 2019 will be a special one as Tougaloo College celebrate its year-long 150th Anniversary—the Sesquicentennial. Tougaloo’s sesquicentennial year is a time to commemorate the College, its heritage, its alumni, those who have made a difference in the College’s first 150 years, and a time to reflect on the College’s future.Throughout the academic year 2018-2019, we will commemorate our rich legacy of academic excellence and social justice and recognize our historic achievements and impactful contributions to society.
In alignment with our past and present progress—our promise for the future, and our historic and enduring belief in the transforming power of education—our sesquicentennial celebration theme is “Tougaloo College 150 Years and Beyond: Transforming Lives, Transforming the World.” We invite alumni and friends to celebrate this once in a lifetime milestone with us.
At the center of this Sesquicentennial celebration we are launching our Sesquicentennial Campaign for Scholarships to raise $10 million over the next two years. This is our very first fundraising initiative that expressly targets scholarships for students as we more intentionally focus on furthering the transformation of today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders. As we look to our future, we are deeply grateful to our generations of alumni and friends who believe in Tougaloo College and continue to invest in our great institution.
